Yes, of course I know it’s a Friday. I also know that, until now, I’ve only ever sent out my Substack post on a Tuesday.
Well guess what? A Model Recommends: Phase II has begun and from this day forth I shall be posting twice a week - the beauty or fashion post every Tuesday, completely free for all and sundry, and then a paid subscriber post at the end of each week. On a Friday.
(My anxiety levels just shot through the roof adding that last sentence, On a Friday. After years of being very non-committal with my self-imposed soft deadlines, it feels terrifying to tether myself to a particular day of the week. Every week. It was bad enough committing to the Tuesday! Though I seem to be doing OK with that so far.)
To be clear (because I know many of you have been switched over from my blog mailing list) nothing is going to change with the weekly post. You will still receive it loud and clear, you don’t need to do anything at all, just kick back and enjoy it. But if you do want more of me in your life, say you look forward to my post each week and wish that there was something extra, then bumping up to a paid subscription could be the way to go.
I’m hoping that those who followed over from the blog have been pleased with their new weekly posting schedule - a vast improvement from the previous schedule, which was erratic and sporadic and virtually non-existent. My website productivity had dwindled to an embarrassingly new low last year, such were the demands of Instagram and writing a book and house renovating and trying to also be a parent without completely losing my marbles, and at one point I didn’t write a new post for almost three months.
Yet here we are, every bloody Tuesday.
And now, every Friday too…
What to expect in a Friday post? Deep breath: life updates, career plans, hotels that have disappointed me. Plants I have killed, plants that have lived, plants I have had to hide outside at the back of the house because I said I wouldn’t buy any more plants. Diary entries, most-used recipes, the reasons I took an advanced drivers’ test. Laser eye surgery (pros and cons!), things I’ve had done to my face (it’s not what you’d expect), books I think everyone should read once.
(How Not to be a Supermodel is up there, obviously. Haha.)
Where was I? Book recommendations. Yes. Also: the reasons I can’t wear heels, my best ever tech purchases, how I stopped my cat from puking, whether or not holidays with kids are ever actually a holiday, where I hunt for interiors inspo.
Oh yeah: I am big on interiors and house renovations. If you have only just started following me through Substack and nowhere else at all then you may have missed this very large part of my life. Though we’re now in “the house we are never moving from” (seriously), the renovations continue and there’s always some sort of building conundrum or interiors development to chatter away about. This is the fourth renovation and so you’d think I’d feel kind of jaded about it all, but I love it.
So there’s that, too. If you love house-nosing then you’ll enjoy these posts enormously, I suspect. Anyway, we have plenty to be going on with until at least, oh, August 2034. If I run out of things to say I’ll let you know in good time.
If you fancy having full access to the Friday posts (I think every subscriber, paid or not, gets a snippet of it) then you can set that up here:
Paid subscriptions are £50 per year or £6 a month (there will also be exclusive Q&A events as well as special video content, once I get this book launch mania under control) but if you’d like to be an early adopter (you snooze you lose!) then I’m offering a lifetime discount for annual subs. They will pay just £35 a year.
Subscribe with a lifetime discount: £35 per year
Right. I’ll see you on Tuesday for next week’s post - it’s a good one, you won’t want to miss it!
